- How can parents get involved in Preschool activities?
The Preschool welcomes parent participation. You can be involved as much or as little as you would like, from cooking with the children, helping the Parent Club or sitting on the Board of Management. Children love to have their parents on site! See ‘Parent Involvement' for more details.
- Is the campus a secure enrvironment?
Security is paramount at Emanuel Woollahra Preschool. Whenever there is child on the premises we have a security guard protecting them. A security guard is on duty at the front gate and secures the surrounding area during school hours.
- Does my child need to be toilet trained?
As we do not have nappy changing facilities, we ask that parents toilet train their child before starting Preschool. We recommend the summer holidays before Preschool commences as the ideal time to train. Our staff are here to support you and your child in toilet training and our Orientation Handbook addresses this issue in detail.
- Does the Preschool provide food for the children?
Children bring their own morning tea and lunch.
- Where do families park to drop off and pick up?
Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends should park their cars in Wallis Street, as Woods Avenue is zoned for residential parking only. Wallis Ave has 15 minute school parking allocations to enable a turnover of traffic.
Our Stop and Drop system operates in the mornings from 8.30 to 9.30am to assist parents who need/want to drop their children off each day. Our trusted helpers stand at the top of Woods Avenue and take children into their classroom after parents or guardians have completed the Sign In sheet.
- How long have the staff been working at the Preschool?
Our staff retention reflects the stability of our Preschool. The Director, Luanne, has taught at the Preschool since 1997 and all of the teachers have been here for at least 6 years. Their professional development is constantly being updated through in-services, conferences and information evenings. Although responsible for their own classes, all the staff work cohesively in achieving common goals for the Preschool.
- What is the staff to children ratio?
1 staff member to 10 children. We also have a ‘floater', an extra staff member who is on site 3 hours a day. Additionally, we have a support teacher who works with children in small groups to help strengthen their fine and gross motor development.
- What are the Preschool hours of operation?
8:30am - 3:30pm, 5 days a week
- Does the Preschool have part-time places?
No. We currently offer a five day program and the fees are set accordingly.
- Do children have to attend 5 days per week?
Our Preschool program is based on 5 days a week, however if you would like to send your child less days you can nominate your day/s in consultation with your class teacher to ensure your child does not miss out on our weekly Playball and Einsteinz Music sessions, shows or any other specially planned events.
